Sir Ellihue Blackwell and Aiden Taylor Death, Two Young Lives Lost in Early Morning Crash, Lowndes County

Lowndes County is mourning the loss of two young men, Sir Ellihue Blackwell, 19, and Aiden Taylor, 20, who tragically died in a single-vehicle accident early Sunday morning. The devastating crash occurred on Black Creek Road when the silver Lincoln Continental driven by Blackwell lost control and collided with a tree.

According to Sheriff Eddie Hawkins, the incident happened around 4:25 a.m. as Blackwell turned from Military Road onto Black Creek Road. The vehicle was traveling south when it veered off the road, impacting a tree with such force that the engine was dislodged and found wrapped around the tree. Hawkins stated that the high rate of speed is suspected to be a contributing factor, with both men likely succumbing to their injuries upon impact.

Deputies were alerted to the horrific scene when an emergency call was automatically triggered by one of the victim’s phones due to the abrupt stop of the vehicle. Responding quickly to the 400 block of Black Creek Road, law enforcement discovered Blackwell and Taylor unresponsive. Tragically, both were pronounced dead at the scene by Lowndes County Coroner Greg Merchant. The Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation into the circumstances surrounding this fatal accident.
